Alder Koten completes search for CEO of Farmacias Benavides (Wallgreens Boots Alliance)

Alder Koten is pleased to announce that, our client, Farmacias Benavides appointed Macedonio Garza as its new CEO. He will report to Nicholas Osorio, Managing Director of the Walgreens Boots Alliance in Latin America, who served as Acting CEO since February 15 of this year.

In 2001, Macedonio moved to the United States where he was responsible for the definition and design of strategic business processes and technologies, supporting the areas of Merchandising and Supply Chain. In 2002, he returned to Mexico to lead the IT area in the country. During this time, Garza led the company’s change program, achieved improvements in enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and implemented a multi-purpose Helpdesk for customers, employees and vendors. In 2006, he was appointed Director of the Human Resources area, in which he was in charge of an organization of 8,000 employees and in which he successfully reduced staff turnover by 50%, practicing a culture of high performance with a human sense.

In 2010 he was promoted to the position of Vice President and General Manager, where he led the rapid development of the new store format to allow the company to perform in a highly competitive market.

Originally from Mexico, Macedonio has developed his career based on the construction of high-performance teams, focused on creating a culture centered on the client through all organizations.

Farmacias Benavides was founded in 1917 in Monterrey, Mexico, and is owned along with the Chilean pharmacy company Farmacias Ahumada by Walgreens Boots Alliance. Farmacias Benavides has since returned to financial health, and is now opening new locations throughout the region.
